|First of all we would like to say THANK YOU to all of you for coming.
Each of you had a part in the great success of this year’s tournament.|
The VS CUP 2008 took place in Ettlingen, home of the
Team Logistics. On the first summer night of the year
the so-called “summer fairy tale” made it to enthuse
all participants, even the last-placed Team Opto was
put into a good mood immediately. Special thanks go
to the colleagues from Kamp-Lintfort for taking over
the red lantern (only to do maintenance and repair,
This year’s host Team Logistics was supported by
reinforcements from Urbach, the Oracle team, Oschatz,
the cheerleaders and, of course, Vossi, our mascot and
so-organizer. And don’t worry, although our Vossi girl had
to stand desert-like climatic conditions under the costume
she has fully recovered.
In the final VS Urbach faced VS Italy. After tough but fair 20
goalless minutes the champion had to be found by penalty shoot-out.
All 5 shots from VS Urbach made their way into the goal but only
4 players from VS Italy were successful --- the winner of the
VS CUP 2008 was decided. Before the 6 participating teams played
in two groups that were drawn by lot by the German Bundesliga
defender Maik Franz.
||The dinner and the VS CUP’s after party took place at the
casino of the Siemens site in Karlsruhe. The evening
started with the awarding ceremony where the cups were handed|
out to the teams (each with a special team song).
Afterwards all approx. 500 guests were invited to satisfy
their hunger at the regional-international influenced buffet.
Football fans were able to watch the quarter final
“Netherlands vs Russia” in the public viewing tent in the
casino garden --- the winners of the VS CUP tip game
even very comfortable on a front-row seat. Not only in
that area many were still analysing and discussing the
matches taken place earlier today with a good glass of
beer or wine. And for all those who did not feel like having
had enough action during the day DJ Chris offered cool
party music and fat beats on the dance floor until dawn.
One is telling that the last transfer bus delivered its
passengers at breakfast time.
To be mentioned is also that we got donations at a total
of 832,50 Euro with our lottery and our PANINI album which
will be transferred to our sponsored child in India within
the next days. Many thanks to you all for that.
Finally there is just one more thing to say: THANK YOU again
to all who contributed to the VS CUP 2008 being such a
successful time for everyone involved.
Already today we, the Logistics Team, are all looking forward
to meeting again for the next VS CUP in 2009 in Lüdenscheid
on 20th June – we could offer some rain coats at a very
